Being an elite NFL wide receiver means playing under a microscope, and armchair quarterbacks are quick to note any slight statistical change as a sign that perhaps the star’s game is slipping.
Davante Adams is without a doubt one of the best wideouts in the league, and his numbers consistently prove his value.
After all, he has four straight 100-catch seasons and over 1,100 yards in each.
However, 2023 saw his yards per catch drop from 15.2 to 11.1 and his touchdowns slip from 14 to eight.
This led, fairly or otherwise, to rumblings that the Las Vegas Raiders star has lost a step or is on the backside of his career.
Adams told Shannon Sharpe that critics are missing the mark if they attempt to find holes in his game or predict his downfall.
“One day I’m not going to be at the top of my game, but that ain’t today,” Adams said on “Club Shay Shay.” “… I still had over 1,100 yards, over 100 catches, and that was a down year. If that’s a down year, I feel like we’re going to be alright.”

Adams explained to Sharpe that he is his strongest critic and that he pays no attention to the noise outside of the locker room.
Winning is the driving force, and he knows that team success equals personal success.
Other people outside of the locker room have jobs that demand that they make comments and be critical, but Adams said that’s just their role and it has no effect on his play.
The proof of his worth, Adams asserted, is found in the film room after the game and not in the words of a critic.
