With an increased emphasis on offense, the NFL has turned into a pass-friendly league.
Teams are seemingly getting away from a run-first approach, instead, electing to pick apart defenses with a dominant attack through the air.
With this in mind, an NFL organization must have a great quarterback at the helm if they want the best possible chance at making a deep playoff run.
The Buffalo Bills have been pleased with who they have at quarterback to this point, as Josh Allen has provided significant upside at the position.
Allen represents the modern version of an NFL quarterback, one who can not only pass efficiently but can get it done with his legs when necessary.
While all of these things are true about Allen, there are some fans and analysts who are unsure about his long-term output in the league.
Nick Wright talked about this in a recent segment of “First Things First” on FS1, responding to an anonymous source who called Allen “One of the more overrated players in the NFL.”
In response to this, Wright said, “Josh Allen is a wildly talented, flawed player.”
Josh Allen’s Passer Rating:
NFL Rank
2018: 67.9 | 32nd
2019: 85.3 | 24th
2020: 107.2 | 4th
2021: 92.2 | 16th
2022: 96.6 | 8th
2023: 92.2 | 16th

Wright recognizes that Allen has a lot of talent and can look like one of the best players in the league.
However, he hasn’t brought the Bills to a Super Bowl during his tenure as quarterback, and his decision-making has sometimes been questioned.
It will be interesting to see how Allen performs in the 2024 season.
If he takes a step forward and brings the Bills on a deeper playoff run, perhaps some of these rumors and questions about his play will be put to rest.
