John Wall is not currently playing in the NBA but he believes that he was a hugely important player during his prime.
According to NBACentral, Wall spoke about the best year of his career and said that he was the second-best player in the Eastern Conference behind only LeBron James.
“Sad thing, injuries happen; it’s part of the game,” Wall said.
He added: “But I felt like I was the second-best player in the East that year after LeBron. We were hooping, we were balling. You solidify yourself. When you get to that second max, even third max, you feel like you made it. I’m one of those guys people talk about on the regular.”

Wall spent 11 years in the NBA and was one of the top players in the league for several of them.
During the 2016-17 season, for example, Wall averaged 23.1 points and 10.7 assists per game for his Washington Wizards.
He earned five All-Star appearances and was in the running for MVP and Most Improved Player at times too.
But as he said, injuries got the best of Wall and things went downhill quickly after the 2018-19 season.
He didn’t play at all during the 2019-20 season and then spent one season with the Houston Rockets before sitting out of 2021-22.
He came back for a singular season with the Los Angeles Clippers in 2022-23 but was still battling injuries and age and wasn’t playing like his old self, posting just 11.4 points and 5.2 assists per game.
Since then, he has been out of the league although he has suggested he’d like to return.
Even if he never does, Wall has every right to be proud of the career he had.
