If the Miami Heat wish to overcome the Philadelphia 76ers, New York Knicks, Boston Celtics, and other opponents in the East, they will have to do things differently.
They haven’t made many big changes over the last several seasons and that has resulted in them constantly coming up short.
Speaking on his show, per NBACentral, Dan Le Batard predicted that Heat mastermind Pat Riley will attempt to sign Jimmy Butler again and then also pursue Kevin Durant.
Le Batard said there are many possible downsides to that idea but it’s one of the only ways that allows the Heat to win as much as possible as soon as possible.
Dan Le Batard thinks Pat Riley will go after Kevin Durant again
“Pat Riley doesn’t have any reason in the world to still be working at his age approaching 80. He’s not going to wait around for another young team…”

He said the Heat made big mistakes after their surprising run in the playoffs two seasons ago.
They entered the postseason as the eighth seed and then took down the Milwaukee Bucks in the opening round.
After that, they had a Cinderella run to the Finals, where they were taken down by the Denver Nuggets.
Le Batard thinks that success cursed them because it told the front office that changes weren’t necessary.
Things didn’t go as well for the Heat this year and they couldn’t make it out of the first round of the playoffs.
Riley moves slowly and methodically but might be willing to shake things up so his team can win quickly.
Acquiring Durant would add a lot to the team but it might not bring them the success they want.
His time in Phoenix has been disappointing so far, proving that he can’t immediately push a team to postseason glory.
Still, he is such an attractive player and the Heat wish to win so badly that they might take a big chance and pursue him.
