Heading into the NFL offseason after getting embarrassed in the first round of the playoffs by the upstart Green Bay Packers, the Dallas Cowboys were expected to begin contract talks with star quarterback Dak Prescott and potentially sign him to a deal that could reset the market for his position.
Although the Cowboys intended to extend Prescott’s contract and make other moves to upgrade the roster after the early playoff exit following a solid regular season, Dallas’ front office hasn’t done either, which has sparked a harsh reaction from fans of the storied franchise.
Now, Prescott’s future in a Cowboys uniform seems in doubt, or at least uncertain, since the team didn’t sign him to the contract extension that he wants right now.
This has led to speculation about a potential trade this summer, but Chris Broussard of FOX Sports believes there’s no way Prescott will be traded and owner Jerry Jones will eventually fold and pay him, via “First Things First.”
“The Cowboys are not going to trade Dak before the season starts. I don’t see that happening. I think Jerry is going to cave and give Dak the contract that he wants,” Broussard said.

At this point, there’s no telling what the future holds for Prescott and the Cowboys, as he could very well be playing for a new team in the near future if a new deal isn’t agreed upon.
The upcoming 2024 NFL campaign will be interesting, to say the least, for Dallas, as it could be a title-contending season or end in disaster followed by major changes.
