Former NFL Star Ranks His Family Ahead Of Kelce Brothers

The Kelce brothers are a heralded NFL duo, as both may be well on their way to the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Many believe the now-retired Jason, formerly of the Philadelphia Eagles, is a lock for Canton, and younger brother Travis of the Kansas City Chiefs continues to build his legend with three Super Bowl rings.

But they are not the only standout NFL family. Just ask the Watts.

Any description of family accolades has to begin with future Hall of Famer J.J. Watt, who was a three-time AP Defensive Player of the Year and one of the dominant forces in the modern game.

Then there’s T.J. Watt of the Pittsburgh Steelers, who is a four-time All-Pro and a former AP Defensive Player of the Year in his own right.

And of course there’s Derek Watt, who spent seven seasons as an NFL fullback.

NFL on CBS noted a very tongue-in-cheek explanation by J.J. Watt on why he might rank his pro football family’s accomplishments above those of the Kelce brothers.

The elder Watt conceded that the Kelce brothers hold multiple Super Bowl titles and are due respect for this accomplishment.

And he said no more.

Host Matt Ryan lightheartedly noted that Watt did not give any ground to the Kelces, but delivered “a really nice compliment without really saying anything.”

Both have the right to make a claim as the first family of the NFL, and great arguments may be made on both sides.

But J.J. Watt made an excellent point that rings do matter, and brother T.J. will have a few more opportunities to lead his Steelers to the promised land.
