After spending his entire NBA career with the Golden State Warriors, which resulted in four championships and the distinction as part of perhaps the best shooting backcourt in league history, veteran guard Klay Thompson decided to leave the team this summer in NBA free agency.
Thompson decided it was time to move on, as he and the Warriors brass did not agree on a new contract, as they did with superstar Stephen Curry and veteran forward Draymond Green, who also were crucial to the multiple titles won in the past decade in the Bay Area.
After Thompson signed with the Dallas Mavericks to join forces with fellow stars Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving, the Warriors had a big void to fill and looked for a viable replacement who could provide shooting and scoring.
Ultimately, the Warriors were able to bring in veteran shooter Buddy Hield, who, considering the circumstances and the players available, is a good fit for Golden State as they begin the post-Thompson era.
With Hield replacing a Warriors legend, there obviously will be some pressure to be a solid addition to the team and produce results, and he recently spoke about those expectations, via Warriors on NBCS.
“There’s no pressure,” Hield said. “I feel like, just come and do my job. What Klay has done for this organization has been tremendous. I love Klay a lot. Watched him over the years. He’s special.”

Only time will tell if the Warriors can rebound from a season in which they missed the playoffs and lost Thompson in free agency, but Golden State has been aggressive in its efforts to bounce back.
Along with bringing in Hield, the Warriors reportedly have been in trade talks with the Utah Jazz to acquire Lauri Markkanen, which would be a game-changer for a team in transition.
