San Francisco 49ers Pro Bowl quarterback Brock Purdy has taken the league by storm since he was drafted with the very last pick in the 2022 NFL Draft.

The former Iowa State star has guided the 49ers to back-to-back NFC Championship Games, along with a Super Bowl appearance last season.

Analyst Chris Broussard believes it is time to stop calling Purdy a “system quarterback.”

“It’s time to stop calling him a system QB…How many system QBs lead the league in numerous categories,” Broussard recently asked on First Things First.

Purdy has been tremendous for the 49ers at the beginning of his young career.

The 24-year-old threw for over 4,200 and 33 touchdowns while also leading the league in passer rating (113.0) last year.

As the starter, he is 21-6, and that includes the postseason.

His ability to scramble, make accurate throws, have command of a very difficult offense, and lead are why he is one of the league’s best players.

Sure, having Kyle Shanahan as the offensive play-caller and a great cast of skill players helps, but how many teams win without those ingredients?

Besides, none of it matters if the quarterback can’t make the necessary plays when the moment demands it.

San Francisco has been to the NFC Championship Game in four of the last five years, as well as a few Super Bowls, with multiple quarterbacks.

With Purdy becoming a superstar, the 49ers don’t need to worry about a quarterback carousel any longer.

Look for this team to be at the forefront of Super Bowl contention this season again thanks to the overall play of their third-year quarterback.
