During his time in the Summer League, incoming Los Angeles Lakers rookie Dalton Knecht has shown that he may be the real deal and a reason for Lakers fans to be very excited.

Should the team hold onto him or should they ship him away to get a bigger star?

On Friday’s “Undisputed,” Paul Pierce said the Lakers should use Knecht as a trade chip and package him in a deal to get another A-list All-Star.

Pierce suggested that Knecht should be part of a deal that includes D’Angelo Russell and Austin Reaves.

Together, these three could possibly get the Lakers a powerful player who could work well with LeBron James and Anthony Davis.

Pierce said the Lakers are under the ticking clock of James’ looming retirement.

They have him for two more years and then he will likely hang up his jersey.

Therefore, they want to enhance their roster as quickly as possible in hopes of winning another championship before they lose James.

Knecht has shown great skill in the Summer League and could be developed into a legitimate star.

But that would take time and time is something the Lakers are lacking, according to Pierce.

What are the chances that Los Angeles does this?

They seem very intent on nurturing Knecht and turning him into a great, young player.

They also seem very hesitant to lose Reaves.

Therefore, they will probably ignore Pierce’s suggestion and keep the rookie and see what he can become in the years ahead.
