With the weather heating up and the NFL, NBA, and MLB all in hot stove season, it’s only fitting that it be hot take season as well, and Colin Cowherd is never one to shy away from a good take to ruffle some feathers.

His most recent take was about who he believes will be the “surprise team in the NFL” this season, and it’s not a team you’d ever expect.

In a recent episode of The Herd, Cowherd predicted that the Washington Commanders will make the playoffs and even has them coming in second place in the NFC East ahead of the Dallas Cowboys, saying “I think they’re the surprise team in the NFL.”

Cowherd likes that the Commanders have a new coach, new offensive coordinator, new quarterback, and new owner and believes it will inject some life into a franchise in desperate need of a shot in the arm.

Washington no longer has to deal with the cloud of Dan Snyder hanging over the organization and it’s always fun to have an exciting rookie quarterback in town, as LSU’s reigning Heisman trophy winner Jayden Daniels will likely be the Day 1 starter for new head coach Dan Quinn.

Washington also added Austin Ekeler to the backfield and brought in Zach Ertz at tight end.

The Commanders also beefed up the offensive line in free agency and made a number of sneaky additions on the defensive side of the ball, so there is a lot to look forward to for Commanders fans this coming season.
