The San Francisco 49ers and star wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk have repeatedly failed this offseason to agree to terms on a major contract extension to keep Aiyuk in the Bay Area.

That prompted Aiyuk to recently request a trade from the team, which doesn’t necessarily mean that he could get traded.

However, according to Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio, there are other teams that have been interested in the former first-round pick.

In fact, there were five teams around the NFL Draft that were interested in acquiring Aiyuk’s services.

“I’m told there were five teams that were ready to go and give him what he wanted what the 49ers wouldn’t give him. But, they couldn’t work out a deal with the 49ers for a trade,” Florio recently said on The Pat McAfee Show.

“I’m told that there were five teams during the draft that were willing to give Brandon Aiyuk the money he wanted but they couldn’t work out a deal..

San Francisco must still believe that they can work something out with the 1,000-yard receiver.

A couple of seasons ago, fellow 49ers receiver Deebo Samuel did something similar.

He requested a trade from the team and ended up getting $73.5 million from the 49ers on a three-year deal.

So, San Francisco’s front office has had experience dealing with trade requests before and is not new to this type of situation.

If the team still cannot work out a new deal into training camp with the talented receiver, there could still be other teams that are interested in a trade.

For now, all the NFL world can do is wait and see what happens between the two sides as the season inches closer.
