After winning 12 regular season games in each of the last three years, only to fall in the early rounds of the playoffs, there is a good deal of angst surrounding the Dallas Cowboys these days.

They made almost no offseason additions, and they need to give out contract extensions to pass rusher Micah Parsons, wide receiver CeeDee Lamb and quarterback Dak Prescott, arguably their three best players.

While the Cowboys have one of the more talented rosters in the NFL, they’re top-heavy, and they have some definite holes.

Sports media personality Colin Cowherd was asked how the Cowboys will do this season, and he said they will go 10-7 but not make the playoffs, per Games with Names.

Cowherd pointed out the lack of wide receiver depth and production outside of Lamb and the lack of a running game as reasons why the Cowboys will not make it to the postseason.

Tony Pollard, who showed promise as a young running back in 2022, left in free agency to join the Tennessee Titans, and while they brought back an old favorite in Ezekiel Elliott, Elliott is clearly on the downside of his career.

Cowherd also said that there is more depth in the NFC now, and that could end up being the final nail in Dallas’ coffin come January.

He also said he could see legendary head coach Bill Belichick going to the Cowboys in a year, and he said they need a strong personality who can build a winning culture as their head coach.

It remains to be seen if owner Jerry Jones would be willing to add a big name such as Belichick who could steal some of his thunder as far as being the dominant figure in the organization.
