It’s hard to believe, but it has now been 18 years since a right tackle was inducted into the NFL Hall of Fame despite being one of the most important positions on the field and consistently one of the highest-paid.

One NFL legend has an outlandish conspiracy theory as to why that is the case, and while the theory sounds wild when you first hear it, he might actually be onto something.

Three-time Hall Of Fame finalist and longtime Cincinnati Bengals right tackle Willie Anderson appeared on Up & Adams with Kay Adams recently and told Kay the reason he hasn’t made it to Canton yet is because of the movie The Blind Side because the film glorified left tackle so much and shifted the narrative away from realizing how important right tackles are.

Anderson said “the right side guys got pushed away” and mentioned how when he trains kids in his academy in Atlanta, every kid only wants to play left tackle because the media’s push for the left tackle position has poisoned the brains of parents and young players.

There is definitely some validity to this claim because this was a huge movie that landed Sandra Bullock an Oscar and made Michael Oher a household name.

When looking at other reasons the 3-time first-team All-Pro isn’t in the Hall, you could point to the lack of success the Bengals had during his time as well as the lack of PFF’s existence during his era, as there weren’t great ways to evaluate offensive linemen at the time.

The All-Pro team also just recently split into selecting left and right tackles, so Anderson was constantly competing with legends like Jonathan Ogden, Willie Roaf, Orlando Pace, and Walter Jones.
