There has been plenty of chatter around Matthew Judon and the New England Patriots lately, and the talk hasn’t been particularly encouraging.
Apparently, the talented linebacker would be willing to hold out and not show up unless he gets a significant bump in his salary.
However, it seems like both parties are in ongoing discussions now.
According to a report by Mike Reiss, the Patriots and Judon’s camp are looking to get past this issue, adding that, usually, when both parties start communicating, it means they’re close to getting a deal done (via Savage Sports).
Mike Reiss on Matthew Judon:
“My understanding is the sides are talking”
“Usually when both sides are talking you usually get a resolution”

Judon took to social media to dismiss all claims about him wanting to hold out or force his way off of the team if he didn’t get the kind of deal he was looking for, adding that he never said anything even remotely close to that.
The Patriots aren’t particularly the most competitive team in the league right now, but they should continue to be a strong, defensive-minded team under new head coach Jerod Mayo.
They will need their prime headhunter there to do so.
As of now, it seems like Judon has all the leverage here, and the Patriots might have no choice but to pay him what he wants.
