Was Team USA’s recent near-loss to South Sudan in a friendly pre-Olympics game a red flag or warning sign?
Dan Patrick isn’t sure but on the latest episode of his show, he said the close win was “inexcusable.”
He also said that it’s a sign of just how great international players have become and how targeted Team USA will be.
“It’s inexcusable.”

He said it was clear that the players of Team USA didn’t have their hearts in the game, at least at the beginning.
That is somewhat understandable considering they were such heavy favorites to win the exhibition game against South Sudan.
When halftime rolled around, the Americans were very aware of the trouble they were in as they sat in a double-digit deficit.
Patrick said that other teams are going to play extra hard in order to take Team USA down.
It doesn’t matter if it’s a friendly exhibition game or not, other squads want to prove a point and wish to be the group that beats America.
The desire to beat the popular and successful Team USA will only grow in the weeks ahead as the Olympics begin.
All other teams have a shared goal of defeating America.
In the end, LeBron James was able to secure a win for his team with a late-game layup.
That led to a one-point margin of victory that was far too close for comfort.
The good news for Team USA is that this happened during a friendly game and not in the midst of the Olympics.
That means they have time to recover from this misstep and get back on track before the games begin.
