After winning back-to-back Super Bowl titles, the Kansas City Chiefs headed into the NFL offseason with the primary goal of keeping Chris Jones in town and upgrading the wide receiver position, which was arguably the team’s biggest weakness last season.

Fortunately for Kansas City, the storied franchise had some viable options to explore during the offseason, with some veteran free agents and one of the most stacked wide receiver draft classes in league history.

Unless other teams missed the mark in the 2024 NFL Draft and NFL free agency, the Chiefs did really well in both areas and may have considerably upgraded their receiving corps.

As if landing veteran wideout Marquise Brown wasn’t enough of an upgrade for Mahomes and company, the team also was able to land the fastest player in the draft, with the team selecting University of Texas star Xavier Worthy in the first round with the No. 28 overall pick.

Unfortunately for Worthy, he’s dealing with an illness as training camp gets underway and missed Monday’s practice as a result, according to KC Sports Network.

Although Worthy wasn’t on the field on Monday for the Chiefs, he turned a lot of heads over the weekend when Mahomes hit him on a deep pass for a touchdown, a training camp highlight that quickly went viral.

If Mahomes and Worthy can build some chemistry during camp and the upcoming NFL preseason, the Chiefs could once again be a high-powered offense with a deep threat that has been missing since the departure of superstar Tyreek Hill.
