The Las Vegas Raiders have struggled to find consistency at the quarterback position in recent years.
Derek Carr was a steady figure within the organization for many seasons, but when he was unable to bring the team on a deep playoff run, they moved on.
Carr didn’t exactly have a career year with the New Orleans Saints last year, and in his absence, the Raiders were unable to find someone they could trust every week.
As a result, they brought in Gardner Minshew during the offseason to compete with Aidan O’Connell for the starting job.
O’Connell showed some promise when he first took the reins during his rookie season, but there is reason to believe the Raiders have their doubts.
When Minshew was brought on, fans assumed that he would take over as the starter and that O’Connell would fight to back him up.
32BeatWriters on Twitter recently highlighted DraftKings’ latest odds on the matter, who have O’Connell as a slight favorite over Minshew to be the team’s starter in 2024.

The odds are close between the two athletes, and as this page calls out, DraftKings has already flipped their odds back and forth in recent days.
This indicates that sportsbooks are unclear on what the Raiders are going to do, which could mean that fans are in for a true QB competition.
With the Raiders’ recent struggles in mind, one can only assume that whoever gets the starting job to start the year will have a short leash.
