Over the past decade or so, sports media has made a drastic change from straightforward analysis and highlights to spewing hot takes on a daily basis, with two men standing out amongst the rest as the most successful and arguably most hated in the business as it has turned to a hot-take haven.
Stephen A. Smith is arguably the most successful at his job of having hot takes on a regular basis, as he often says controversial things and gets paid quite a lot for his opinion while being the face of ESPN during this era of sports media.
However, the other notable name in this discussion is Skip Bayless of FOX Sports, who has rubbed a lot of people the wrong way over the course of his career, including Smith and Shannon Sharpe, who he used to host a show with at different times during their careers in the media.
With Bayless trending down after his fallout with Sharpe, which resulted in the NFL Hall of Famer joining forces with Smith at ESPN, he is said to be stepping down from his post as the host of Undisputed, which some believe means he was fired by FOX Sports.
Recently, Philadelphia 76ers superstar Joel Embiid claimed that he is the most hated player in the NBA right now, which is a take that Bayless chose to run with and claim that he’s the most hated in sports media via Awful Announcing.

Even though a strong case could be made for Smith or current FOX Sports colleague Nick Wright, Bayless probably is what he claims to be, which reflects his dying fan base and the fact he’ll be out of a job soon.
Although he’s supposedly leaving the company, it won’t be all that surprising to see him pop up somewhere else immediately after or call it a career.
