The topic of best players seems to come up a lot in every sport.
Whether fans or analysts are talking about the best of all time, or the best players in an individual season, there is seemingly always something to debate.
One of those debates typically surrounds basketball players, notably, who fans believe to be the greatest of all time.
LeBron James, Michael Jordan, and Kobe Bryant typically dominate those discussions, but at the end of the day, it can be hard to quantify and compare players from different eras.
When looking ahead to this year’s Olympics, Chiney Ogwumike, a former WNBA player-turned-analyst, put together her list of the best players in this international competition.

In order from five to one, Ogwumike named Victor Wembanyama, Giannis Antetokounpmo, LeBron James, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, and Nikola Jokic as the first-best players in the Olympics.
All five of these players have proven themselves in a certain capacity, but international competition can be an entirely different animal.
James is the only player representative from Team USA, which arguably has the most stacked roster of any team in the Olympics.
If he can continue to dominate at his age, there’s a real chance that the United States could walk away with yet another gold this year.
James has power in numbers to support him, something that these other players listed don’t have, which could be a factor down the stretch.
On paper, Team USA has a better, more complete roster than their competition, but none of that matters until the games start being played.
