The New York Jets have had an eventful offseason as they look to build a strong contender around QB Aaron Rodgers who is now completely healthy following last year’s torn Achilles.
In an effort to tighten up the defense, the Jets are working out a veteran cornerback today who could serve as a depth piece with an outside chance to fight for a spot on the Week 1 roster.
KPRC2’s Aaron Wilson reported that the Jets are working out Tre Swilling, who is a former member of the Baltimore Ravens, San Francisco 49ers, New Orleans Saints, and Tennessee Titans, and is the son of former five-time Pro Bowl linebacker and Defensive Player of the Year Pat Swilling.

Swilling was waived by the Ravens this week and has bounced around practice squads over the past few years aside from his brief stint with the 49ers last season when he appeared in a couple of games to play on special teams.
Swilling is 25 years old and went undrafted out of Georgia Tech and will be looking to stick on the Jets’ roster coming off a year when he finally was able to crack an active roster.
Sauce Gardner, D.J. Reed, and Michael Carter II are listed as the Jets starters at corner and don’t have a ton of accomplished depth behind them, so Swilling doesn’t have an impossible hill to climb if he intends on finding his way onto the roster as more than just a special teams guy.
Best of luck to Swilling as he looks for his next chance to stick in the NFL.
