The Philadelphia 76ers made one thing very clear with their offseason changes: they want to beat the Boston Celtics next year.

Speaking with 97.5 The Fanatic, per NBACentral, President of Basketball Operations Daryl Morey warned the Celtics that the Sixers will be hot on their heels.

“We are going to be coming to take the title away from them,” Morey said.

Morey commended the Celtics for the season they had and admitted they’re a very good team.

But he also feels that his squad is one of the best in the entire league and they could be crowned champions when next season comes to a close.

Morey has been hard at work this summer, adding players like Andre Drummond, Eric Gordon, Caleb Martin, and more.

Of course, the biggest acquisition was Paul George, who left the Los Angeles Clippers to try his hand with the 76ers.

They are definitely in a better position than they were last season but will these additions be enough to let them compete with Boston?

They ended last season as the seventh seed in the East with a 47-35 record.

However, it must be noted that the team lost Joel Embiid for a considerable amount of time and that really hurt their chances.

If the new recruits play very well and Embiid remains healthy, Philadelphia could be a force coming out of the East.

The Celtics won’t go down without a fight but it looks like the Sixers might have what it takes.

Morey has faith in his team and now he’s ready to see them deliver.
