Las Vegas Raiders Pro Bowl edge-rusher Maxx Crosby is one of the league’s best defenders.

He has recorded 35 sacks in total across the last three seasons and has put up 10+ sacks in three of his first five NFL seasons.

The former Eastern Michigan star has started all 17 games in each of the last four seasons, which is very rare for a player who lines up on the defensive line.

As great of a defender as Crosby is, he has almost lined up at tight end for the Raiders a few times over the years.

“It was supposed to be called,” Crosby said recently on The Rush Podcast.

Having to guard a 6-5, 260-pound edge-rusher might not be the most ideal situation for an opposing defender.

It also could come as a surprise to the defense, which is why it could work down in the red zone.

This Raiders team is going to have to come up with some surprises on offense if they are going to contend for anything this season.

They have made the playoffs just twice in the last two decades and are going to be rolling with either second-year quarterback Aidan O’Connell or veteran backup Gardner Minshew.

In a division with Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs, as well as Justin Herbert and the Chargers, Las Vegas is going to need to pull out all the stops to upset the apple cart in the AFC West.

If that means lining up arguably their best defensive player on offense, so be it.
