After an incredible 2023 NFL season in which the Baltimore Ravens were arguably the best team in the league until they were beaten by the eventual Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Championship Game, Lamar Jackson and company are expected to come into the upcoming season as a force to be reckoned with once again.
Along with being as confident as ever after winning a second NFL MVP award, all eyes in Baltimore will be on Jackson to see if he can take this team to the next level in 2024, especially following the addition of fellow superstar Derrick Henry to the backfield.
Unfortunately, training camp has not gotten started the way the veteran quarterback or the team had anticipated, with Jackson dealing with an illness that has kept him off the practice field, leaving head coach John Harbaugh to address his leader under center’s health on a daily basis.
On Friday, Harbaugh gave an update on Jackson’s status, which was basically more of the same as he said the reigning NFL MVP is simply dealing with an illness and is working with the team’s doctors moving forward via Kyle Phoenix of Baltimore Beatdown.
“He’s fighting through an illness,” Harbaugh said. “Working with our doctors and doing all the tests, even more tests to make sure we got everything covered. … It’s just unpredictable.”

Obviously, as much as Jackson means to the Ravens, this is a concern for Baltimore as they try to get the team ready for the upcoming season, which will get underway on September 5 on the road in a rematch against the Chiefs at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium.
Fortunately for Jackson, there’s time to get back to 100% and be ready for Week 1, which will likely be a statement game in Kansas City.
