The New York Jets kicked off training camp this week and will have an opportunity to integrate some of the new pieces on the roster ahead of the 2024 season.
There was a lot of optimism last offseason about the Jets’ Super Bowl hopes after trading for Aaron Rodgers, but things quickly fell by the wayside when he was hurt and lost for the 2023 season.
However, Rodgers is healthy and expected to be available for Week 1, so head coach Robert Saleh and his staff can focus on getting the rest of the team up to speed.
New York’s defense is filled with several talented players, but the team made a splash in the offseason when they traded for pass rusher Haasan Reddick.
Reddick had a strong year with the Philadelphia Eagles, but has yet to report to training camp as he awaits a contract extension.
A recent report said talks were progressing, though Saleh had a muted response when asked about it via the Jets’ official Twitter account.
‘Until he’s here, he’s not. It’s good to hear though,’” Saleh said.

Saleh publicly can’t comment on the state of negotiations and likely didn’t want to give reporters more fuel, though it does seem like a deal will get done sooner than later.
Reddick is coming off back-to-back seasons where he was named to the Pro Bowl and will give the Jets defense a legitimate threat off the edge.
While the attention will be on Rodgers and the offense, the defense is expected to float New York this upcoming year.
