For years, European basketball fans have questioned whether the NBA is actually the best league on Earth.

And while most signs point to it, they still need to prove it on the court.

Notably, Team USA will have a prime opportunity to do so, as they’ll make their debut in the Olympics against one of the toughest opponents on the planet.

Even so, oddsmakers still seem to love their chances.

According to ESPN Bet on Twitter, the American squad is favored by 13.5 points ahead of the game, with Serbia boasting odds of +750  to win the matchup.

Of course, Team USA features some of the best players in the NBA, and they should be favored against any opponent, at least on paper.

Then again, it’s not like Serbia doesn’t have a solid team.

They’re led by reigning NBA MVP Nikola Jokic, and feature other NBA players like Bogdan Bogdanovic, Vasilije Micic, and Nikola Jovic.

Team USA struggled to be at their best during the exhibition games.

They barely escaped with a one-point win against South Sudan, and that’s despite being favored by 43.5 points before tip-off.

They followed that with another subpar performance vs. Germany, and their apparent lack of effort could be a major concern ahead of this game if they don’t approach it as seriously as they should now that it actually counts.
