The Dallas Cowboys are in the midst of training camp and will need to prove they belong in the Super Bowl contender category during the 2024 NFL season.
The Cowboys flamed out in the Wild Card Round of the 2024 NFL Playoffs against the Green Bay Packers, and now, they must answer questions about whether or not they belong near the top of the NFC.
Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb are arguably the most potent quarterback-receiver duo in the league while Micah Parsons is one of the favorites to win the NFL Defensive Player of the Year award.
Defensively, though, Dallas could use some extra help in the secondary as Trevon Diggs recovers from injury.
The Cowboys were one of the better pass-defense units in the NFL, and there’s never enough depth for such a crucial place on the field.
However, it seems that Dallas has already started to make cuts as they released veteran cornerback Gareon Conley via Ari Meirov of The 33rdTeam.
“The #Cowboys have released CB Gareon Conley,” Meirov said.

Conley was a former first-round pick of the Las Vegas Raiders in the 2017 NFL Draft but was later traded to the Houston Texans in 2019.
While Conley stuck around with the Texans for a bit, he was eventually placed on injured reserve and waived.
Conley would later go on to play professionally in the UFL before landing back in the NFL with Dallas.
The veteran defensive back’s time in the league might be over, and the Cowboys will likely need to dip back into the free agent market for a suitable replacement.
