The Los Angeles Lakers are facing a make-or-break season in 2024-25.

JJ Redick will make his debut as a professional coach, and all eyes will be on Southern California again.

Rob Pelinka wasn’t able to make any signings in the offseason, so the only way he has to improve the roster — outside of the NBA Draft — will be to trade some players.

Perhaps, that’s why D’Angelo Russell wanted to be on LeBron James’ good side, so he showed up to watch Team USA play vs. Serbia in the Olympics (via MRI_6H & ClutchPoints).

Russell has been tangled up in trade rumors ever since he arrived in Los Angeles for the second time.

There were reports about the Lakers looking to trade him for Dejounte Murray, but that never happened, mostly because he took his game to a whole new level as soon as the rumors started to come.

Then, there were rumors about him opting out of his contract and leaving, but, once again, that wasn’t the case.

As of now, Russell should be considered the de facto point guard for JJ Redick’s team, even though he usually plays off the ball, with LeBron James running the point.

Whatever the case, most analysts agree that the Lakers don’t have a championship-caliber roster, and while they should continue to be a playoff team, they will need to make some big moves to get over the hump.

In the meantime, Russell will continue to show his support for his teammates, James and Anthony Davis.
