Former Steelers QB Is Turning Heads At Eagles Training Camp

The Philadelphia Eagles already have a starting quarterback for years to come.

It seems like it would take a lot for Jalen Hurts to lose his starting job at this point.

However, given his history of injuries, it only made sense that the team went after a solid backup to hold down the fort if needed.

With that in mind, they traded for Kenny Pickett, who urged the Pittsburgh Steelers to cut him loose so he could get a fresh start after they added Russell Wilson and Justin Fields into the mix.

Notably, Pickett has been quite impressive during training camp, according to a report by Tim McManus of ESPN.

Hurts had another strong day — a big turnaround from the spring where he and the offense often sputtered.

We continue to see plenty of designed runs and quick strikes — slants to A.J. Brown over the middle, flares to Saquon Barkley in the flat, etc. Quick pops.

McManus claimed that the former Pittsburgh Panther had the throw of the day in training camp, adding that he has a much better arm than he had anticipated.

Truth be told, there were always major concerns about Pickett and whether he could be a legitimate starting-caliber player in the National Football League.

He didn’t do much to help his case when he was with the Steelers, although he wasn’t put in a position to succeed either, spending most of his career under Matt Canada’s tutelage.

Now, he’ll get to learn from Kellen Moore, and even if he’s never a starter for the Eagles, that should give the team a better look at his actual traits and skills on the gridiron.

Pickett is still young and with room for growth, and it’ll be interesting to see how his career pans out after this stop in the City of Brotherly Love.
