There weren’t many surprises during Team USA’s big win over Serbia on Sunday but one thing about the game did shock people.

Jayson Tatum of the Boston Celtics didn’t play at all and some NBA fans are upset about that.

On Monday’s “First Take,” Kendrick Perkins stated that head coach Steve Kerr disrespected and embarrassed Tatum.

“You know what Jayson Tatum is going to bring to the table. You do not disrespect him and embarrass him the way that you did,” Perkins said.

He added that more people should be talking about Kevin Durant, LeBron James, and other great performances from the game but instead, Tatum’s DNP is getting the most attention.

Kerr has defended his choice to sit Tatum for the entire game and promised that he’d be a central part of the team during their Wednesday game against South Sudan.

One might think that would put this controversy to rest but there are still many people upset at the Warriors coach and questioning his choice.

Kerr said he didn’t play Tatum because he was using the lineup that he thought would do best against Team Serbia.

That was ultimately the right choice because America beat Nikola Jokic and his team but why didn’t he allow Tatum to play even for just a few minutes?

People will continue to wonder about that and Kerr won’t be able to give an answer that is suitable for everyone.

But in just a couple of days, Tatum will play for the team and the conversation around this absence will surely die down.
