Every NBA star playing for Team USA receives a lot of attention, but not all of it is positive.
For Joel Embiid, his time with the Olympic team has opened him up to a lot of criticism.
In fact, he received a scathing review from Colin Cowherd on Monday morning.
Cowherd called Embiid “the most overhyped, coddled and over discussed player in the NBA” and said he is actively hurting Team USA.

Embiid’s weaknesses were on full display once again during the Americans’ game against Serbia.
During their match, Embiid played for 11 minutes and only scored 4 points, 2 rebounds, and 0 assists.
Meanwhile, Serbia’s big man, Nikola Jokic, achieved 20 points, 5 rebounds, and 8 assists during his 31 minutes.
Cowherd stated all the reasons why he isn’t celebratory about Embiid.
He said he hasn’t helped his team get far in the playoffs, isn’t healthy enough, and is an awful fit for the Olympics.
Because of the FIBA rules that the Olympics use, Embiid doesn’t receive as many fouls and isn’t at the free throw line as often.
However, this is just one of the reasons why he hasn’t been doing very well.
He doesn’t seem to be a great fit alongside other stars on the roster and his defense has been lacking at times, especially during the team’s exhibition games.
Embiid was supposed to be a crucial part of this team’s lineup but Cowherd claims he is just a hindrance, at least at this point.
The Sixers star has the chance to turn things around later this week and could still prove his worth.
But right now his time with Team USA is only feeding into the concerns that some fans and analysts have about him.
