With training camp already underway and all the frenzy that usually comes with it, the New York Giants have made a rather significant move.
The Giants want to make sure to keep Daniel Jones safe and sound after an injury-plagued career.
With that in mind, they’ve signed veteran guard Greg Van Roten, according to a report by USA Today’s Art Stapleton (via Ari Meirov).

Van Roten is coming off starting every single game for the Las Vegas Raiders last season, and he posted a very solid campaign.
He had the lowest pressure rate allowed in his career and wasn’t called for a single penalty despite playing well over 1,000 snaps.
He’s heading back to familiar grounds.
Van Roten played for the New York Jets back in 2020 and 2021, and he’ll now be reunited with offensive line coach Carmen Bricillo.
The Giants haven’t been able to fully trust RT Evan Neal, either because of constant injuries or subpar play.
That leaves the door open for Van Roten to step in as a starter right away at either guard spot.
The Giants’ OL will need to make room for Devin Singletary to find running lanes as Saquon Barkley’s replacement while also keeping Jones out of harm’s way, and that will be easier said than done.
