The San Francisco 49ers may have the absolute best offensive weapon in the game right now.

Christian McCaffrey has established himself as the most dynamic and disruptive running back in the game.

He can line up everywhere on the field because of his pass-catching, blocking, and running skills, and he’s allowed Kyle Shanahan to deploy him in a variety of ways.

That’s why, following one of the best seasons in NFL history, it was only right that EA Sports made him the cover athlete for the new edition of Madden.

Now, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that he’s become the first 49ers running back ever to be a part of the exclusive Madden 99 club.

That means he’s got an overall rating of 99 in the game, the highest one could possibly get, which is — obviously — not unusual for players chosen to appear on the cover.

Truth be told, McCaffrey had a strong case to win MVP last season, but with the award being almost exclusive for quarterbacks now, that just wasn’t the case.

Instead, he had to settle for being named Offensive Player of the Year.

Perhaps, he’s going to have a fairer chance to get his hands on the big prize next season.

Only injuries have been able to stand in his way since he entered the league with the Carolina Panthers.

So, barring another ailment, there’s no reason to believe he can’t be even better and more impactful for one of the best teams in the game in the upcoming campaign.
