JJ Redick has already received his fair share of praise and backlash before even coaching a single game for the Los Angeles Lakers.

The hiring of Redick definitely evoked some big opinions.

Speaking to Colin Cowherd, Redick’s former coach, Mike Krzyzewski, talked about what he will bring to the team.

Calling him “prepared as well as any player I’ve coached at Duke,” Krzyzewski suggested that Redick is going to do outstanding things for the Lakers.

Mike Krzyzewski discusses JJ Redick coaching the Lakers:

“He’s prepared as well as any player I’ve coached at Duke… I think he has empathy for what a roster would look like.” pic.twitter.com/Khm99i34YM

Cowherd listed some of the complaints made about Redick.

For example, certain people find him arrogant and many others don’t think he has what it takes to be a head coach.

After all, he has never coached in the NBA before and now leads one of the most storied franchises in league history.

That rubs some Lakers fans the wrong way, especially when there is the ticking clock of LeBron James’ retirement looming over every game.

But Krzyzewski knows basketball very well and is considered perhaps the best college coach of all time.

His opinion will go a long way to ease the fears of Lakers followers.

All eyes will be on Redick over the next few months.

New head coaches usually face a steep learning curve and it often takes time before they are able to score much success.

Will that happen to Redick or will he immediately put the Lakers on the right path?

The spotlight will shine bright on Redick and every step, good and bad, will be closely examined.

But Krzyzewski believes his former star can handle it and thinks great things are ahead.
