The Dallas Cowboys are playing a dangerous game, but it doesn’t seem incidental.

Stephen and Jerry Jones seem more than willing to let Dak Prescott play out this season and then negotiate with him, and some believe they’re purposely setting him up for failure so they don’t have to pay up to keep him around.

Whatever the case, it’s also safe to say that Prescott could have several suitors for his services next season.

With that in mind, NFL analyst Craig Carton made a case for him to be a potential option for the New York Jets.

Talking on The Carton Show, he argued that next season could be a one-and-done thing for Aaron Rodgers.

He believes that he may decide to leave or retire if they a: win the Super Bowl or b: fail to reach an AFC Championship Game.

Per Carton, Rodgers would only run it back if they fall just shy of a Super Bowl win; otherwise, he’s gone.

And while he admitted that he’s not the biggest fan of Dak Prescott, he thinks the Jets could do a whole lot worse at quarterback if Rodgers leaves.

Carton argues that the Jets will continue to have a Super Bowl-caliber roster and no quarterback, which is why he would gladly take Prescott, even if that means paying up to get him.

The Cowboys don’t seem to be a legitimate contender, and some of that has to do with the fact that Prescott has fallen short over and over when it actually counts.

Even so, he’s more than likely to get a big payday next season.
