The NBA is a unique league compared to the other major professional sports in the United States.
Fans of the NBA have allegiances to their hometown teams, sure, but this is much more of a player’s league than any other sport.
If a fan has a certain affinity for a player, their fandom will typically extend to that player throughout their career, no matter what team they end up playing for.
This phenomenon has kept the NBA afloat for years, and it is what keeps fans coming back every season.
There are a few older players in the league, like Steph Curry, Kevin Durant, and LeBron James, who are well-known superstars who are nearing the end of their NBA journey.
All of these players will be replaced in the next few years, opening the door for younger players to make their way to the forefront.
Several athletes come to mind for the average fan, including Anthony Edwards, who is making quite a name for himself at a young age.
He’s already grown a fanbase of people all around the United States and the world, but he’s also getting recognition from his peers.
As D’Angelo Russell recently said on the “Run Your Race” podcast, “He could learn how to pass a little better, but I think he’s flawless, to be honest. He’s a flawless NBA player.”

Russell has played with his fair share of superstars to this point in his career, including James.
It is clear that he sees something in Edwards, someone who is already representing Team USA at the Olympics.
