The Kansas City Chiefs had a rough offseason filled with off-the-field issues from multiple players on both sides of the ball, so getting training camp underway has been a great way to shift the focus back to the gridiron and put the distractions in the rearview mirror in pursuit of a third consecutive Super Bowl championship.

That quest hit a minor speedbump when one of the team’s best defenders was carted off the field at training camp.

The Kansas City Star’s Sam McDowell shared a video on X of linebacker Nick Bolton being driven away from the practice field on a cart after reportedly suffering a left elbow injury.

It’s particularly concerning given the fact that Bolton missed nine games last season after having surgery on his left wrist.

Bolton reportedly suffered the injury during drills, and the team hasn’t provided much of an update on his status aside from head coach Andy Reid giving his brief input.

Reid reportedly said, “He tweaked his elbow. Just got it caught in between two guys.”

The Chiefs need Bolton back at full strength like he was in 2022 when he was second in the league with 180 total tackles.

Wide receiver Kadarius Toney suffered a lower-leg injury in the same practice, an occurrence that has been far too common for him throughout his career.

Bolton had 60 tackles total in eight games last season, plus an interception, despite missing extended time for the first time in his career.

Hopefully for the Chiefs, Reid is right and this is nothing major for Bolton.
