Several young quarterbacks in the NFL have already become stars and can still become better over the next few years, so many eyes will be on them as the 2024 season gets started.
One of them — Brock Purdy of the San Francisco 49ers — has become a Cinderella story.
He was the last player taken in the 2022 NFL Draft, yet ever since taking over the team’s QB1 spot in Week 13 of that year, he has been nothing short of outstanding.
Purdy recently talked about his mindset and how he wants to dominate the way Tom Brady used to, which led Nick Wright to call him the “most interesting player in the league this year” while on “First Things First.”
“Brock Purdy is the most interesting player in the league this year. If he tries to prove something he’s not, he’s going to kneecap the 49ers.”

Wright said that if Purdy tries to prove he’s something he’s not, it will torpedo the 49ers and their chances of winning the Super Bowl.
The co-host then cited a Sports Illustrated article by Grant Cohn in which Cohn said Purdy doesn’t play nearly as well when the Niners offense isn’t fully healthy and implied that perhaps he won’t be the same player in the future if they cannot afford to keep all of their stars.
Purdy will soon be due for what should be a huge contract extension, and of course, wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk has been angling for a big extension of his own.
But from all outward indications, Purdy has his head on straight, and thus as long as enough goes right for San Francisco, it should have a good chance of getting back to the Super Bowl and finishing the job this time around.
