After flaming out in the worst way possible in the first round of the NFL playoffs in front of their fans at AT&T Stadium last season, the Dallas Cowboys were thought to be one of the most aggressive teams in the league heading into the offseason, with some drastic moves potentially on the horizon.
Despite all the talk from longtime owner Jerry Jones claiming the team was going all-in to upgrade the roster, his actions have shown the opposite as they seem to be content with the current squad, even though Jones at times seems to hint at the contrary.
Along with not making any real upgrades to the roster, quarterback Dak Prescott is in line to get another lucrative long-term contract extension. But the process has gone slowly, and it is anyone’s guess whether it will get done at all.
Former NFL wide receiver James Jones said he believes that Prescott has all the leverage in contract talks with Dallas due to the constraints of his current deal with the team, which restricts trade scenarios and the use of the franchise tag.
“Right now, the ball’s in Dak’s corner,” Jones said on “Speak” on FS1.

At this point, the Dallas front office is in a challenging situation with Prescott, wide receiver CeeDee Lamb and linebacker Micah Parsons all expecting lucrative long-term deals to stay with the team.
It’ll be interesting to see how this situation pans out and whether the Cowboys can make all three of their big stars happy with extensions, or if it ends in disaster.
