The New England Patriots made headlines in 2021 when they agreed to a contract with Matthew Judon.
Judon was a star with the Baltimore Ravens, and with the Patriots struggling with Tom Brady’s departure, it was surprising to see Judon join their team.
Despite this surprise, Judon has played extremely well with the Patriots to this point, putting up stellar numbers during the 2022 season.
He did have some injury concerns in 2023 but looks to get back on the field for the 2024 campaign.
The only problem is that Judon and the Patriots are currently in the middle of a contractual dispute, and there have been some trade rumors circulating as a result.
Analyst Mike Giardi recently talked about this on the “All 32” podcast via the Patriots on CLNS Media, saying, “That’s the thing that I’ve been reporting, is that there’s a huge gap between the two sides… to the point where I don’t know how you bridge the gap.”

To Giardi, if the Patriots don’t make Judon an acceptable offer soon, he might be tempted to demand a trade, hoping to find a team that will pay him what he believes he is worth.
When healthy, Judon is still one of the best defenders in the league, and he likely has a market beyond the Patriots.
What he wants to get paid remains to be seen, and for the Patriots or another suitor, the dollar amount still needs to make sense, even with Judon being an elite defender.
