Darren Waller will likely go down as one of the best tight ends from the past decade.

He made a real name for himself on the Las Vegas Raiders, and his story about rising above addiction and hardship will not soon be forgotten.

While Waller is most commonly known for his time with the Raiders, he had a short stint with the Baltimore Ravens at the beginning of his career and spent the 2023 season with the New York Giants.

There was hope that Waller could bring an infusion of talent to the Giants roster, but he could only be so impactful in the 12 games he played in.

Waller had a few injury concerns throughout the season, and he ended up retiring in the offseason, which ended his NFL career.

Some people indicated that the Giants locker room and team culture were the problem, which he quickly nixed in a conversation with Ross Tucker.

According to Waller via Tucker’s podcast, “I liked the Giants a lot… The ownership… paid for acupuncture and massages… they do things the right way.. the way they treat families.”

Waller believes that the Giants take care of their own, whether it’s players, coaches, or their families.

Judging by his comments with Tucker, it seemed to be a great place for him to end his NFL career, getting one more chance to see what another team is like.

Waller’s on-field impact will be missed in the 2024 season, but it will be interesting to see what his next move will be after football.
