Team USA recently moved to 2-0 in the 2024 Paris Olympics after a 103-86 victory over South Sudan to clinch a spot in the tournament portion of the event, and head coach Steve Kerr once again toyed with his lineup in pursuit of finding the right matchups going forward.
ESPN insider Brian Windhorst pointed out how one key member of the team is struggling, but that the squad isn’t worried.
In a recent appearance on “First Take,” Windhorst acknowledged the issues facing Stephen Curry.
“There is no doubt, Steph’s struggling,” Windhorst said. “… Team USA’s greatest strength is their depth, and they can survive a game where Steph goes 1-for-9.”

Curry scored just three points in the win over Sudan and was 0-for-6 from 3-point range, and he admitted he has been forcing some shots because he isn’t used to taking such a low volume and doesn’t know when his shots will be coming. That keeps him from being able to shoot his way through the issue.
Windhorst noted how the FIBA 3-point line is a foot closer to the rim in the corner and 3 feet closer at the top of the key than the NBA line is, but he reiterated that Team USA isn’t worried, even though Curry has struggled in the Olympics so far.
There’s rarely a reason to worry much about the greatest shooter the sport has ever seen, but it would be more fun to see him join the party and put on a vintage performance at some point during these Games.
This is the first time Curry has competed in the Olympics, and it’s clear some adjustments need to be made.
