The NFC appears to be wide open again this season due to so many of the league’s best quarterbacks residing in the AFC and so many teams in the NFC featuring young or unproven QBs under center.
One analyst recently snapped at all the fans and media members who have been criticizing one NFC QB and defended him against the allegations that he is nothing more than a system quarterback.
Craig Carton of “The Carton Show” aired his frustrations at people who have been criticizing San Francisco 49ers QB Brock Purdy.
“The hatred against Brock Purdy is lazy … and it’s tiresome, to be honest,” Carton said, adding, “Why can’t we just watch Brock Purdy play and acknowledge he makes every throw, he makes, typically, every right read?”

Co-host David Jacoby admitted that he at first believed Purdy was a system QB but recognized that the more he watched him, the more he realized the seventh-round pick was capable of more and was making every throw, so he acknowledged his initial take was wrong.
It was an easy assumption to make when Purdy surfaced within this vaunted offense that he was a system QB, but he has done everything he can to prove he is more than that over the past two years.
It’s not Purdy’s fault he took over an offense that features elite players at every position and an innovative head coach who will play to his strengths, and it should not be held against him.
Sometimes fans have too much fun rooting for players to fail instead of simply enjoying the ride and appreciating good football.
