It has been a tumultuous offseason for Brandon Aiyuk due to his contract status, with the San Francisco 49ers star receiver taking to social media to hurl not-so-subtle slights at his team while also requesting a trade.
Despite all the messiness, Aiyuk has shown up to training camp and appears to be “enjoying himself,” according to one team insider.
“He is doing team meetings, he is doing everything but the practices,” Matt Barrows of The Athletic said of Aiyuk. “He is part of this team … he is here and seems to be enjoying himself.”

This input comes after a clip of Aiyuk surfaced showing him happily greeting head coach Kyle Shanahan and general manager John Lynch, so it appears the situation might be heading in a more positive direction.
The sides appeared destined for an ugly divorce in recent weeks, given Aiyuk’s trade request and San Francisco’s salary cap situation.
There are several big contracts on the team with another massive one looming whenever quarterback Brock Purdy gets paid, so it’s obvious at some point the front office is going to have to make some tough decisions.
San Francisco selected Florida wide receiver Ricky Pearsall in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft and re-signed Jauan Jennings, moves that can be seen as the team creating insurance in the event of an Aiyuk trade.
However, Aiyuk is still in town and appears to be happy, so maybe he knows something others don’t about his contract situation.
