The Denver Broncos are a team in transition with head coach Sean Payton still getting acclimated in the Mile High City while building the team that he wants in hopes of becoming a legitimate title contender in the AFC in the near future.

Fortunately for Denver, the team made some drastic changes during the NFL offseason to address the quarterback position, parting with veteran Russell Wilson after two disappointing seasons and paving the way to bring in a rookie who could become a franchise player for the Broncos.

Along with selecting quarterback Bo Nix out of the University of Oregon in the 2024 NFL Draft, the team seems to be liking what they are seeing out of veteran running back Javonte Williams, who is turning heads at training camp.

Payton claims that Williams is a “completely different player” as Denver’s camp progresses, which is obviously a great sign for the offense moving forward, according to Zac Stevens of DNVR Sports.

After almost having a 1,000-yard season as a rookie in 2021, Williams was able to play only four games during the 2022 campaign. He bounced back last season, his first under Payton, rushing for 774 yards and three touchdowns on 217 carries over 16 games (13 starts).

Williams also caught 47 passes for 228 receiving yards and two touchdowns, as he became a threat in the passing game as well on the ground for Denver, which likely made Payton happy that there could be an even brighter future for him moving forward.
