During the 2023 NFL season, the Dallas Cowboys seemed to be firing on all cylinders on both sides of the football, as they had superstar linebacker Micah Parsons leading the charge defensively and star quarterback Dak Prescott having arguably the best season of his career under center.
As a result, the Cowboys were able to pave their way to a three-way tie for the best record in the NFC at 12-5 and locked up the second seed in the conference heading into the NFL playoffs, which seemed to bode well for them.
Although Prescott had some subpar performances in the final weeks of the regular season, the veteran was in the NFL MVP conversation and was expected to make some noise in the postseason.
Unfortunately, the complete opposite happened in the first round, with the Cowboys falling apart against the Green Bay Packers and getting knocked out much earlier than anticipated, a loss that was blamed on Prescott as well as on head coach Mike McCarthy.
NFL Network’s list of the top 100 players in the league is being released, and Prescott didn’t make the top 10, which is something former NFL player James Jones disagrees with, based on the QB placing second in the 2023 MVP voting.
“He should be in the top 10,” Jones said of Prescott. “10, 9, 8, 7, 6, whichever one y’all wanna put him in.”

If these rankings, which are based on voting by NFL players, were based solely on regular-season performances, then Jones has a case for Prescott making the top 10.
However, epic failure in the playoffs has been the case throughout Prescott’s entire NFL career, as he always seems to fold when the lights are the brightest, which likely led to him landing at No. 16 in this year’s poll, which ironically is his highest ranking ever.
