On Thursday morning, Gordon Hayward announced that he was retiring from the NBA after 14 seasons.
This was a big blow for his fans but also a major moment for a certain draft class.
As pointed out by Hoops on Twitter, Hayward’s retirement means that Paul George of the Philadelphia 76ers is now the only active player from the 2010 NBA draft class.
There were many notable players that came from this class but now George is the last man standing.

The response to this news was swift and many people spoke about other 2010 players who are no longer on the court.
For example, John Wall was the first pick in that year’s selection and was drafted by the Washington Wizards.
He technically hasn’t retired but hasn’t been with a team for an entire season now.

The rest of that class included players such as Evan Turner, DeMarcus Cousins, Ed Davis, Larry Sanders, Greg Monroe, Wesley Johnson, and others.
The fact that none of them are still in the NBA has some fans feeling that time is just flying by.

Other people commented that George hasn’t reached his main goal after 14 seasons of playing.

That is true and he’s still not a champion but George might be entering the most exciting stage of his career.
He just signed his deal with the Sixers and is looking to turn that team into a championship contender.
Last season, George averaged 22.6 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 3.5 assists on 47.1% from the field for the Los Angeles Clippers.
So, while many 2010 recruits have left the league, George is still putting up amazing numbers and remains a permanent part of the playoffs.
