Analyst Says 1 AFC East Team Is Good Enough To Win The Super Bowl

With the Hall of Fame Game opening the NFL preseason, football is officially back (kind of), and hearing the sound of helmets and pads smashing into each other is enough to get excited enough to fire off some more hot takes ahead of the regular season.

One analyst may have gotten a little too excited with his most recent take, saying one long-suffering AFC East team is capable of winning the Super Bowl.

Former player Marcus Spears appeared on “Get Up” and said that the New York Jets are good enough to win the Super Bowl.

“They are elite now when it comes to positional strength,” Spears said. “… The offensive line was re-solidified. … Breece Hall is a top 2-3 back in the NFL, Garrett Wilson should be unlocked this year. … They are good enough to win a Super Bowl.”

It feels like a scalding take since the Jets haven’t made the playoffs since the 2010 season, the longest drought in the major professional sports, but Spears is right in pointing out how talented the team is now.

Many stopped paying attention to the Jets after Aaron Rodgers tore his Achilles on the first drive of last season, but the defense remained in the conversation for the best in the league.

The offensive line was a weak point, but the front office brought in Tyron Smith and Morgan Moses to upgrade both tackle spots and used the No. 11 overall pick of the 2024 NFL Draft on Penn State tackle Olu Fashanu to serve as the long-term solution to that problem.

Spears brought the heat with this take, but it’s not as crazy as it sounds as long as the Jets can stay healthy and keep Rodgers upright.
