After 24 years with the New England Patriots and a disappointing regular-season performance in 2023, longtime owner Robert Kraft felt it was finally time to part ways with legendary head coach Bill Belichick and start fresh.
Although this was a somewhat surprising move by the Patriots, even though it was rumored all year long, many believed Belichick would bounce back quickly with so many coaching vacancies around the league during this NFL offseason.
Unfortunately for Belichick, no team he talked to was buying what he was selling in terms of pitching himself as their new head coach, which was a shocking development, to say the least.
Jobs were getting filled left and right, and ultimately, Belichick was left as one of the coaches without employment when every head coaching position in the league was taken.
Even though Belichick was unable to find another coaching job and has turned to media roles instead, many believe he’ll be the top candidate for vacancies in the next go-round.
But Dallas Cowboys legend and longtime game analyst Troy Aikman isn’t so sure, via “The Pat McAfee Show.”
“I don’t know that it’s going to be easy for him to get a job, quite honestly,” Aikman said. “I mean, If he didn’t get one in this cycle, why would someone think that it’s going to be easier the next cycle?”

Only time will tell whether Belichick can land on his feet again in the NFL, as there are always coaching jobs that become available after the regular season is over.
It’ll be interesting to see where Belichick might land and if it’s Aikman’s Cowboys who come calling if they fire Mike McCarthy after the 2024 campaign.
