The New England Patriots and Matthew Judon are in a bit of a tough spot.

Despite multiple reports stating that he wouldn’t be in attendance, the star linebacker is in training camp.

He’s reportedly unhappy with his contract situation and wants to get another raise.

Nonetheless, and even though it seems like the situation has ‘simmered,’ that doesn’t mean he’s satisfied or even being his usual self.

According to a report by Mike Reiss of ESPN, Judon has kept a low profile since training camp started (via Carlos Talks Pats).

The situation between the #Patriots and Matthew Judon “has simmered in the view of multiple sources close to it” but as of right now his contract remains unchanged, per @MikeReiss.

He hasn’t played catch with the fans like he used to do, he’s reportedly walking up the back steps to the practice field, and he has yet to make himself available to address the media.

The Patriots don’t have that much firepower on their roster right now.

They don’t have many veteran leaders, either, so Judon has pretty much all the leverage in the negotiations at this moment.

Still, the Patriots have already improved his contract, so they might not want to be pushed that hard.

Jerod Mayo needs Matthew Judon to be Matthew Judon; he can’t just go through the motions and make the same kind of impact they’re used to getting from him.

There’s still time to get this situation in the rearview mirror, and both parties will have to meet in the middle at some point.
