The Cleveland Browns have a really solid defense at all levels.

Led by reigning Defensive Player of the Year Myles Garrett, Cleveland has a chance to contend in the AFC this season because of their physicality and athleticism, particularly on that side of the ball.

However, former Browns All-Pro cornerback Hanford Dixon thinks there is one major flaw on defense.

“They played well at home…Defenses have to be able to travel,” Dixon recently said on The Hanford Dixon Show.

Regardless of the quarterback carousel last season, the Browns were able to win 11 games thanks to the play of Comeback Player of the Year Joe Flacco and the play of the defense.

However, Dixon makes a great point about the defense’s play disappearing on the road.

Cleveland gave up over 25 points on the road seven times last season, including multiple games with at least 35 points given up.

With Garrett, Pro Bowl edge-rusher Za’Darius Smith, Pro Bowl linebacker Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah, Pro Bowl cornerback Denzel Ward, and many other significant pieces, this unit is way too talented to be giving up a lot of points like that.

Now, franchise quarterback Deshaun Watson and Pro Bowl running back Nick Chubb could be quite healthy once this team hits their stride this season.

That means there could be less pressure on the defense to perform at an elite level, but they still need to go out and play that way.

The AFC is too loaded for the Browns to be messing around and giving up a bunch of points each week, especially with their talent.
